Hammock Bliss Sky Tent 2 Rain Test

I wanted to take the Hammock Bliss Sky Tent 2 out for a rain test because I found one of the most commonly asked questions I get about the Sky Tent 2 from Hammock Bliss is, “How does it do in the rain”.

After sleeping overnight in a rain storm I have determined that this product holds up fairly well in the rain. Compared to other tarp shelter systems it doesn’t do as well. On a scale from 1-10 I would rate this product at a 6 for rain resistance. The reason why I only gave it a 6 is because of two things.

1) The length of the shelter is a little too short for most hammocks putting you at risk of getting the ends of your hammock wet in a downpour which would be terrible in any circumstance

2) The bug netting and the seams for the bug netting get fairly damp during the rain. This doesn’t seem like a big deal but if you end up rubbing against it your underquilt or hammock could get wet.

Overall I am a big fan of the Sky Tent 2 by Hammock Bliss, I just wish the tarp was a little longer and wider, this would solve all of the problems that I have with the product. It is still very spacious and comfortable. I am going to continue to use this product as it is still one of my favorite shelters if I am expecting good weather.
